Hong Ha Bakery — Mascot, Sydney

Hong Ha Bakery — Mascot, Sydney
Hong Ha Bakery — Mascot, Sydney

Description

A long-running South Sydney bakery

Hong Ha Bakery has served Mascot since the 1980s and remains one of Sydney’s best-known Vietnamese bakery counters. Bread baked on site is central to the experience: the crust has enough snap to frame the filling while the crumb stays light enough for an easy takeaway lunch.

What to order

The traditional pork roll is the natural starting point. It combines several pork preparations with carrot, cucumber, spring onion, coriander and a choice of chilli. Chicken, schnitzel and meatball variations have also appeared on the menu, giving regulars room to branch out.

Good to know

The Botany Road queue is part of Hong Ha’s reputation, particularly at lunch, but service is geared to high volume. Visit earlier if you want the broadest choice and the best chance of bread straight from the bakery. Confirm current hours before a special trip.

Neighbourhood: Mascot, close to Sydney Airport
Best for: a classic bakery-style roll and visitors staying in South Sydney.
