Luke’s Bánh Mì — Moonee Ponds, Melbourne
Description
Third-generation baking in Moonee Ponds
Luke’s Bánh Mì began on Puckle Street with baker Luke Vu drawing on his family’s Vietnamese baking history. The shop makes baguettes daily and prepares its own pâté, marinades and whole-yolk mayonnaise, giving the menu a recognisable house style that has since expanded to several Melbourne locations.
What to order
Pork ‘n’ Pork is the signature: crackling pork belly is paired with lemongrass pork shoulder for a mix of richness, crisp texture and aromatic seasoning. Cold cuts provide a more traditional comparison, while the current plant-based range gives vegan diners a more considered choice than a plain salad roll.
Good to know
Moonee Ponds is the original location and the most useful stop for understanding the business before its expansion. Check the official location page for current hours. Vegan diners should still confirm that the published filling, spreads, bread and sauces have not changed.
Neighbourhood: Moonee Ponds, inner north-west
Best for: house-made components, a signature double-pork roll and clearly presented vegan options.
