PLANT-BASED BRISBANE

Vegetarian and Vegan Banh Mi in Brisbane

Brisbane’s newer specialists make plant-based bánh mì easier to find, while traditional bakeries may prepare tofu or vegetable rolls on request. Always check the bread, spreads and seasoning.

Banh Mi Thit — Mitchelton and Salisbury

The owner menu marks Tofu Avo vegan. Its general roll description also mentions house mayonnaise and pâté, so explicitly order the vegan build and confirm substitutions.

Mitchelton: Shop 3, 43 Blackwood Street, QLD 4053. Salisbury: Shop 3, 655 Toohey Road, QLD 4107.

Banh Mi Factory — exact branch matters

Tofu is an earlier menu lead, but a current complete-sandwich vegan recipe was not established in this review. Confirm bread, pâté, mayonnaise, sauces and marinade with the branch.

The owner lists 1/235 Zillmere Road, Zillmere; 10 Austin Street, Newstead; and Shop 1, 201 Stafford Road, Stafford.

Anna’s Banh Mi Co — older West End lead

An independent listing, last updated in July 2022, describes tofu, mock duck and mock chicken and says vegans should specify no mayonnaise. This is a lead to confirm, not a fresh owner-menu check.

The earlier address is 84 Boundary Street, West End QLD 4101. Verify the business’s current location and sandwich service before travelling.

Independent dietary listing and its date

About the earlier Banh Mi Now recommendation: its accessible Uber Eats page is marked closed on that platform since February 2021. We have not treated that archived menu as proof of current service or a current central Brisbane destination.

Questions that matter

  1. Does the bread contain egg, milk or butter?
  2. Is pâté or mayonnaise added automatically?
  3. Does the tofu or mock-meat marinade contain fish sauce?
  4. Are chilli caramel, pickles and dressings fully plant-based?

Build a better order

Ask for extra pickles, coriander and chilli when a tofu filling is mild. A rich vegan spread or avocado can replace mayonnaise, while crisp vegetables keep the roll lively in Brisbane’s warm weather.

Cross-contact

Traditional bakeries and compact takeaway counters may use shared preparation areas. People with serious allergies should contact the shop directly before travelling.

Before you go

Menus, opening hours and availability change. Check each venue directly, order only what you can comfortably finish, and treat the route as a flexible plan rather than a race.
